The course will detail the entire exchange process, as well as cover some of the more complex applications of §1031 to ensure exchanges are well-received by the IRS. If the financial planner does not understand the basics of a 1031 Exchange, their clients could face significant tax consequences.

Learning Objectives:
• Develop an understanding of the 1031 Exchange process and be able to assist in setting up a 1031 Exchange for clients.
• Be able to identify what type of property qualifies for the 1031 Exchange.
• Be able to perform simple capital gains calculations and to illustrate the basic tax consequences.
